To the west of Highland Plains are areas of significant phosphate exploration potential. These areas lie along the prospective Cambrian-Proterozoic contact which also hosts the Highland Plains deposit. Targets include a geomorphic embayment which appears similar to the Highland Plains embayment and represents an excellent drilling objective and is on granted leases with drill-ready permitting.

The Highland Plains deposit is only 68km west of the Century zinc mine which utilises a slurry pipeline to the coast; the open pit production at Century has recently ceased. One possible solution to greatly reduce the capital requirements needed to develop Highland Plains is to utilise the Century infrastructure.
